From I-84 East

Take Exit 48-B (Capitol Avenue). At the end of the exit, turn left onto Capitol Avenue. Continue on Capitol Avenue through three lights. At the fourth light, turn left onto Main Street. Continue on Main Street through three lights. Center Church is at the corner of Main and Gold Streets, on the left side of Main Street, immediately after the third light.

From I-84 West and Route 2

For I-84 travelers, take Exit 54, marked “Downtown Hartford.” For Route 2 travelers, follow signs to Downtown Hartford. Then, for both: Go through the first and second traffic lights, passing to the left of the Old State House building, which will be on your right. At the third light, turn left onto Main Street. Center Church is on your right.

From I-91

Take Exit 29-A (Capitol Area) [for those traveling via I-91 Northbound, please note that this is a left exit]. Follow this road (the Whitehead-Conlin Highway) to its terminus at the traffic circle. Once in the circle, bear right onto Wells Street (Bushnell Park will be on your left). Continue on Wells Street through one traffic light, keeping to the right. At the next intersection, turn right onto Gold Street. Center Church is at the top of the street, at the corner of Gold and Main streets.

PARKING

On Sundays, free parking is available in the Travelers Plaza Garage, accessible on Prospect Street next to The Hartford Club. Press the button in the control box as you enter the driveway/ramp leading to the garage and tell the security guard you are attending a Center Church event.  The cross bar will lift and you may then drive down the ramp where the garage door will open automatically.  Follow the signage to park as well as to access the elevator lobby.  Take an elevator up to the Plaza level and walk across the Plaza to the sidewalk beside The Hartford Club that leads to Prospect Street, then on down Atheneum Square to Main Street and the Center Church Meeting House.  

To return, retrace your steps up across the Plaza to the elevator lobby of the Travelers building from which you exited earlier.  Ring the buzzer at the door and a security guard will let you in to the elevators.  There are several parking floors in the garage so best to remember the floor on which you parked.  You will NOT exit through the door of your arrival.  Simply follow the Exit signage and the Exit door will open automatically as you approach it.  You will exit to the right onto Bob Steele Boulevard (formerly Grove Street), which is a one-way street down to Columbus Boulevard.

Kindly note: The garage does not close during bad weather.

For weeknight events (Monday through Friday), free (validated) parking is available from 5:00 – 10:00 p.m. in the garage adjacent to One Financial Plaza (the “Gold Building” – 755 Main Street), via its entrance on Pearl Street.

Street parking is available for all events. Legal street parking is FREE weekdays after 6:00pm, and on weekends. Check signs and meters for posted tow zones and any meter fees.

BIKE PARKING, BUS (local & regional) & TRAIN ACCESS

Bicycle racks are located one block south on Main Street, between the Wadsworth Atheneum and City Hall/the Hartford Public Library.

The Meeting House is centrally located in downtown Hartford, one block southwest of CT Transit’s central bus hub on Central Row (all major bus routes), and directly across the street from CT Fastrak’s downtown hub on Main Street, as well as the free DASH Shuttle.  For bus route maps and information, visit www.cttransit.com.

We are a few minutes’ walk from Hartford’s Union Station, with access to major regional buslines and Amtrak trains, including the Bradley Flyer (connection to Bradley International Airport, Windsor Locks.)
