Since the nineteenth century, Center Church has been an important place for musical and artistic expression.  While serving as a house of worship, the current Meeting House was the city’s first concert hall and lecture auditorium.  A tradition of concerts – begun by the “Jubal Society” in 1822 – both as parts of a series and as stand-alone events, continues to this day through Music and the Arts at Center Church.  These events – open to all and often presented free-of-charge, with the request for a donation, or via tiered-price tickets – include classical, jazz, folk, and ethnic music, as well as drama and dance.
