Warburton Choral Scholars

With major support from the Trustees of the Warburton Chapel, up to four Warburton Choral Scholar stipends are awarded to students who attend Hartford-area colleges for the purpose of singing in the Center Church Choir during the semesters of the typical collegiate academic year.

We look to have, ideally, one scholar in each of the choir’s four sections (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass). Interested college students need not be music majors to apply. Rather, they need to have choral or instrumental ensemble experience, the ability to read music, and a willingness to work with and learn from professional and volunteer singers.

The Warburton Choral Scholars are expected to participate in the weekly choral rehearsal and Sunday morning service, as well as special services, community outreach activities (i.e., caroling at Community Meals) and concerts that are announced at the beginning of the academic year. Scholars also are welcome to share other gifts with and participate in the broader life of Center Church.

For more information or to request an application, please contact the Church Office at (860) 249-5631.
